  • New Program: EXCEL
    • EXCEL – New program this season on Thursday Afternoons

New this season, Academy skaters are invited to enroll in our Excel program to enhance their Academy experience.

Excel will commence PRE-SEASON, with Off Ice Training for six weeks from Thursday, September 15 – Thursday, October 20.

During Pre-Season Off Ice training, skaters in Basic Skills through Pre Preliminary, will learn a warm up and stretching routine, basic conditioning to increase stamina, exercises to strengthen their basic skating postures and positions off of the ice (spirals, sit spins, spread eagles, lunges).

Skaters working on Preliminary Moves and above will learn an advanced warm up routine, jump and rotation exercises, conditioning and flexibility exercises, and methods for strengthening spin and posture positions off-ice.

      EXCEL Pre-Season Details:

Off-Ice will meet on the roof of Wollman Rink.

      Thursdays, Sept 15 – Oct 20

Basic Skills & Free Skate skaters will meet from 4 – 4:45pm.

Skaters who have tested Pre Preliminary Moves and above will meet from 4:45 – 5:30pm

      EXCEL Ice Skating Season Details:

Commencing October 27th, the Excel program will run as on-ice after school freestyle/practice sessions, again grouped by skating level.   Basic Skills & Free Skate skaters will meet on the ice from 4 – 5pm and skaters who have tested Pre Preliminary Moves and above will meet from 5 – 6pm.

During the In-Season portion of the program, skaters will have 30 min of On Ice Practice Planning and 30 min of open practice (or private lesson arranged with their coach).  Skaters will learn specific On Ice warm up exercises appropriate for their current skating level and will also work with our Excel coaches to develop a personalized On Ice Practice Plan recorded into a written log for skaters to reference on their own.

Our goal for skaters in this program is to encourage each individual to learn how to optimize their time on the ice, to practice efficiently and with purpose and for skaters to learn and understand the importance of committing to a personalized off-ice training plan to enhance their rate of development.

      Fees:

EXCEL:  $550 (includes Pre-Season and Skating Season)

Junior or Elite Academy & EXCEL:  $1575
