Learn to Skate Group Program:

Registration for all of our programs is available now ONLINE or by phone, 212-744-0882.

So long as space remains available, registration is open for all classes and programs throughout the season. Students progress at their own pace, are evaluated throughout the season and promoted to the next level when appropriate.

Typically parents select a specific weekly lesson day/time that their child will attend most regularly through the season, though once enrolled, make-ups for missed classes are available in any of the weekly classes of the same level that we offer.

      This program for independent pre-school aged children focuses on gently acquainting young children with the ice and developing coordination in a creative & playful environment.

      This is a parent participation version of our first steps program for young beginners. Parents should be sufficiently comfortable on ice skates to assist their child. Tots who can move and get up on their own on the ice should register for Snow Plow Sam.

  • Snow Plow Sam
    • Ages 5-6 | Classes meet for 30 min

      First time skaters will be learning basic balance, proper falling and getting up, beginning forward skating & two foot glides. Levels 2 & 3 are progressive in completion and skill mastery. Students work on forward marching with speed, simple turns, beginning backward skating & stops.

  • Jumping Jacks - Boys Skating Skill Development
    • Boys only | Classes meet for 60 minutes

      This program, exclusively for boys, is designed to accelerate the completion of the Basic Skills curriculum through a consistent and progressive method of learning the fundamental skating skills.  Each hour long class is divided between group instruction, supervised practice and focused individual attention, with the goal of fostering friendships and forming a ‘club’ of boys learning to skate together.  Jumping Jacks will push skaters to enhance the quality of their skating skills helping them to build a strong technical foundation.

      The Level 3-4 skill progression includes edge techniques, forward crossovers, edge turns, stops, power stroking, footwork combinations & much more! Skaters at this level can also opt for the Junior Figure Skating Academy or Youth Hockey.

  • Figure Skating Academy
  • EXCEL Figure Skating Program
    • EXCEL Figure Skating
      Prerequisite:  Academy membership & min level Freeskate 1  

      Highly motivated skaters are invited to enroll in our Excel program to enhance their Academy experience.   


      Excel will commence PRE-SEASON, with Off Ice Training for six weeks starting in September on Tuesdays after school 4:30 – 6:00pm.

      EXCEL Pre-Season Details
      Tuesdays, 4:30 – 6:00pm, commencing September 5th  

      EXCEL Ice Skating Season Details  

      In-Season Schedule:
      Mondays at 5pm
      Fridays at 6:30am
      Sundays at 9:00am (Off-Ice)  

      Off Ice training, will  provide skaters with a warm up and stretching routine, jump and rotation, conditioning and flexibility exercises, and methods for strengthening spin and posture positions off-ice.   

      During the In-Season portion of the program, skaters will have two on-ice sessions per week covering dynamic on-ice warm up, and advanced Jump & Spin technique.   Skaters will also work with our Excel coaches to develop a personalized On Ice Practice and Training Plan recorded into a written log for skaters to reference on their own.
      Our goal for skaters in this program is to encourage each individual to learn how to optimize their time on the ice, to practice efficiently and with purpose and for skaters to learn and understand the importance of committing to a personalized training plan to enhance their rate of development.

  • Pre Hockey
    • Ages 5-8 | Classes meet for 30 min

      Pre Hockey is intended for children who have not ice skated before and who are enthusiastic about hockey. Kids will learn balance, basic forward & backward skating, glides, stops, turns and beginning crossovers.

  • Jr Rangers Hockey Training
    • Ages 5+

      In a dynamic station training format, skaters will develop the skills necessary to play ice hockey. Stick handling, passing, shooting, power skating & team play are developed through exciting drills. Our coaches emphasize the importance of developing as young hockey players

      We want our future hockey players to get as much practice and experience as possible before joining a league and recommend that Hockey Training participants attend at least one training session each week, but are encouraged to attend as frequently as they are able.

      Classes run for 60 minutes.
      Jersey provided.

      Required Equipment: hockey helmet, mouth guard, shoulder pads, elbow pads, hockey pants, shin guards, hockey socks, hockey skates, hockey gloves & ice hockey stick.

      ON LINE REGISTRATION

  • Jr Rangers Hockey League
    • Ages 6+

      Players learn the fundamentals of game play with coaches involve on the ice with their team. As opposed to a non-stop game situation coaches aid their team in setting up plays, explaining and reinforcing the role of each position, stopping play as needed to explain rules, penalties and positioning.

      It is recommended that players attend one practice and one game day per week, however they can attend any and all scheduled practices and game times they are able.

      Practices & Games each run for 60 minutes. Jersey provided.

      Required Equipment: hockey helmet, mouth guard, shoulder pads, elbow pads, hockey pants, shin guards, hockey socks, hockey skates, hockey gloves & ice hockey stick.

  • Power Sk8

    • This class is designed to help hockey students improve their skating skills. It will incorporate drills to increase speed, improve turns and transitions, and make skaters more confident in their skills. The skating knowledge gained in this class will greatly benefit skaters in their hockey practices and games.

      Pre-Requisite: Must be able to skate forward with confidence in hockey skates.

      Equipment: Helmet mandatory. Equipment optional. No sticks allowed.
